Fundu Lagoon is located on Pemba Island, which is part of the Zanzibar Archipelago, lying around 80 km to the north-east of the main island.
Its 18 rooms consist of canvas tents set under thatch roofs on wooden decking, all of which have views over the sea. Two are suites with private decking and plunge pool, with a further four superior versions of the same.
The living quarters are connected to the main buldings by wooden walkways or paths through indigenous forest. The hotel boasts three bars, one of which is situated a third the way along a long jetty, stretching way out to sea.
Although the hotel's own beach doesn't really support swimming, trips can be arranged to the nearby Misali beach. There is a fully equipped dive centre, and dhow cruises, canoe explorations through the mangroves and catamaran sailing trips are available.
